Quick Words

Quick Words is Roblox's built-in preset system. Use it to add more Quick Words that follow Roblox's content policies, so players of all ages can safely coordinate gameplay without building a custom preset system.

Quick Words must focus on gameplay coordination, not social chat, and must not be open-ended questions.

Configure Quick Words

To get started, go to Creator Hub, select your game, then go to Configure > Chat > Quick Words.

  1. Add up to three custom categories, with three to ten Quick Words in each category. Each Quick Word must be fewer than 25 characters. Quick Words can only be entered in English, and Roblox automatically translates them into each user's chosen chat language. Custom categories replace the default Roblox categories, while the General category remains available to users across games.
  2. When you publish, Roblox reviews your categories and Quick Words against the safety rules in the preset system guidelines before they go live. If a phrase isn't approved, revise it and publish again. Review What is allowed and What is not allowed for guidance on which phrases pass the policy check.
  3. Once approved, your Quick Words are automatically available to users in the Here and Global tabs of the chat window. If you need more time, save your changes as a draft before publishing. You can also revert to the Roblox default Quick Words at any time.

Quick Words states

Your Quick Words move through four states:

  • Draft: You've updated a Quick Word field.
  • Pending: Roblox is checking your Quick Words against the policy.
  • Not approved: Your Quick Words didn't pass the policy check. Revise them and publish again.
  • Published: Your Quick Words passed the policy check and are live in your game.
